Are Spin Classes Effective for Fat Loss?

Some motivational music and you’ll see a small group of people having the most intense cardio. Such training is what you get in spin classes with their intense focus on getting you all sweaty and tired. They are a whole new buzz in the town especially with people who look to become a part of community-based exercises rather than working out alone. They are intense and sweaty so they do have the potential to stand in trainers for weight loss, but are they truly worth the hype they are getting? We take a look at how effective are spin classes for weight loss.

To begin with, they are sweaty and intense cardio exercise, where you sit ion bike and go paddling for an hour or so. It would help you burn calories like crazy. They are generally like short courses such as you would find a poster reading, Boot Camp in Oklahoma City. Such boot camps help you connect with a number of different people with similar weight problems, and you become a part of the larger symphony. So when you start with the spin class every other person is doing the same so it helps you overcome the awkwardness.

But what else? A boot camp or training such as the spin classes aim for weight loss and getting your body into shape.

Short term: Spin classes might seem the ultimate physical training to start losing weight very quickly, but its results are unfortunately short-lived. In a year you would find your body stalling over the exercise. It would become routine but your body fat becomes accustomed, and no more weight loss would occur. So much intense cardio, while it would seem great for in the short term, it doesn’t work out for the longer term.

Weariness: Attending spin classes with other exercises can be a good option, but isolating yourself to spin classes may cause muscle weariness in the shoulders and hips. Hips if you know are already quite stressed with prolonged sitting and movement in your lower body. On top of that, Spin classes isolate them with seated cycling for hours, this further increases strain over the muscles and reduces their productive capacity.

Lack of balance: Spin classes like I mentioned before, are intense, they work you out till you’re exhausted. But this isn’t the key to healthy body shape and weight loss. The spin classes in my opinion lack balance. Compound exercises and other workouts are found to lack seriously in the spin classes. I would go to this spin class in Oklahoma City and we would cycle for hours and return all sweaty. This worked great for a few months, I was losing consistently and then it stopped. My body went into the stall mode, that’s what lack of balanced exercising does to you!

Remember, I never mentioned that spin classes are a waste of time or energy or money. But I wanted you to know that isolate and cause weariness in the body. Why would you want to stick with one form and find no progress, further stress of going for the work out every day and still not being able to lose weight is another stress.

What’s the solution? No, don’t quit the spin classes! Go to them, but reschedule them, for twice a week or thrice a week. Add some compound movements and exercises that get your back, torso and other parts into the action as well. Don’t find yourself in the same position and shape that you are today. Progress and be proud of getting yourself into the perfect physique.
