Let’s Talk About Our God

Let’s Talk About Our God

Humans have an instinct to boast. Even if we don’t proclaim it out loud, our inner dialogue is often boastful. For whatever reasons, we want people to know about our achievements, possessions, our kids, and our good deeds. We have been taught that bragging is a sign of being conceited from an early age, and there are consequences. This may also make you reluctant to talk about your belief in Jesus and how often you enjoy Bible verses. If you read the book of Joshua, you’ll realize that this caution is misplaced.

Paul says that if you’re going to brag, then brag about God. Just like H.Eric Fearman says in his video “Braggadocious”, Paul quotes from Scripture that the wise should not boast about their wisdom or their strength. Those who do wish to brag should brag about knowing the Lord, who has unlimited kindness, justice, and righteousness.

The following practical ways are the right way of bragging:

1. Speak Highly of Your Church

Critiquing is easy, but look at the positive aspect of your Church and promote those amongst colleagues, friends, and work. Speak well of Jesus’ Church and brag about him as you would about any of your prized possessions.

2. Celebrate all Answered Prayers

Make it a point to celebrate whenever your prayer has been answered because that’s evidence that your Lord listens and knows. Relate the stories just as you would brag about finding great shoes at a sale or a successful business deal. Boast about how God intervenes in everyday life, making it in His image. It doesn’t matter if nobody sees it that way, all you need to do is brag!

3. Sprinkle the Conversations with the Gospel

The gospel, which simply means good news may seem like a churchy word, but that’s how Jesus Christ used it. You should be comfortable speaking about Jesus’ gospel just as you are bragging about your family or other life events.

4. Acknowledge God’s Justice

God exercises His attributes of kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth. H.Eric Fearman says in his video that to brag about God, talk about how His influence can be seen in any situation where justice is served, or kindness is observed. Good people are God’s followers, but He is the ultimate author.

5. Credit Beauty to God

Western cultures give the credit of wondrous creations of nature to coincidence and random complexities. However, Christian faith believes differently, and without having an argument, you can brag about how God’s vision can be seen in each miraculous display of nature. Many Bible Verses can help support your claim.

6. Discuss Enthusiastically All the Good Things Christians are Doing

If someone is generous, tell a friend. Is a group of Christians fostering well being in your neighborhood? Highlight their actions. You can take names or keep it anonymous but make sure people know that all their actions are motivated by God’s words and His direction.

7. Describe your blessings

A way to stay humble and brag about God is to tell people what all He has done in your life even though you were undeserving. There’s nothing that can be done unless God wishes it, and people should know that He is merciful and gives much more than we are worthy of.

8. Celebrate God’s Vision for Earth’s Future

Long-term plans always make for fantastic bragging opportunities. A hot-shot entrepreneur says, “here’s what I am going to do,” and everyone is in awe. Help people applaud God’s plan for His people and how He sent Jesus on earth just to set us on the right path.

Brag about the Lord! No matter how great you are, there’s someone greater, and He deserves all the praise and boasts. Take inspiration from Jesus Christ, revel in his sacrifice and brag about the Lord’s son, and what he did for humanity.
